How does medical cannabis work to make me feel better?

Is medical cannabis covered by my insurance?

In Canada, health insurance usually doesn't pay for medical cannabis. This means most people have to pay for it themselves. There are a few private insurance plans that might cover it for certain illnesses, but not many.
If you're sick and your doctor thinks medical cannabis might help, you can talk to your insurance company. They'll tell you if they can help you pay for it.

Is medical cannabis safe for me?

Cannabis is generally a safe medicine. However, there are some patients where cannabis is strictly contraindicated. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and people with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder who are actively psychotic should not take cannabis.
